Canoeing and Kayaking

What leaves no carbon footprint, no eroded footpaths just a bit of an ache or pain where you wouldn't normally get them? Canoeing in the Lakes using proper Canadian style open boats typically crewed by two or more people using single balanced paddles provides the opportunity for all sorts of adventure. Expert tuition is required but generally speaking canoes are pretty stable craft and there's not much to learn before you can get on the water. Explore the islands of Derwentwater, with friends or family, practice solo skillss or improve team skills. Chellenge yourself with canoe orienteering or canoe touring. Kayaking used to be used by North Americans for long sea journeys as well as hunting so thewse are highly manoeuvrable craft capable of keeing out of the waves. White water depends on rain and snoawfall of course and winter and spring can be exciting times to try take part. Local activity providers will be able to supply all you need to take part.
