Waterskiing
With boat speeds limited to 10mph, the emphasis has changed on Lake Windermere. However, it might be argued it's now even better suited to beginners seeking lower-level introduction to the sport. Low Wood Watersports Centre, with it's large lake frontage and extensive range of equipment, is a great location for getting out on the water. Besides waterskiing and wakeboarding, you can learn to sail, or to paddle a kayak or canoe. You could also hire a boat and explore the lake. All this is set in one of the country's most stunning locations, against an inspiring backdrop of the Lakeland fells.
Low Wood experience comes with up-to-date equipment, national governing body training techniques and a love of just messing about in boats. There's excellent facilities, including ample free parking, changing rooms, showers, equipment hire and an equipment and refreshment shop. So all you really need to bring along is enthusiasm and a sense of adventure.
