Twitchers will love Cumbria for the abundance of different breeds of birds that can be found there. England's only pair of golden eagles were found swooping over the Lakeland Fells. Rare waterfowl can be found on the lakes and costlines. Buzzards fly over the Eden valley. Owls live in the North Penines and the Ospreys from Africa have now colonised Bassenthwaite Lake. Cumbria Bird Club brings together people from all over the county to share their
experiences and love of birding. Members try to help newcomers learn more about
birding, and they contribute to the research needed to preserve both local and
national birdlife.
