Altogether, there are 18 sparkling lakes, 217 magnificent mountains, 514 Fell tops, around 2000 tarns and pools of water and over 400 towns, villages and hamlets. However Cumbria's rugged terrain and variable weather should never be taken for granted and it's important you never take on more than you feel comfortable with.
